This statement discloses the privacy practices for the eHarmony website, which may be accessed through www.eharmony.com, or through related URLs such as www.eharmony.com/singles/, http://marriage.eharmony.com/marriage/, or bookstore.eharmony.com. The purpose of this statement is to notify you of what personally identifiable information of yours will be collected by the eHarmony site, how it will be used, and what options are available to you regarding the collection, correction and/or deletion of information. Information We Collect and How It's Used Questionnaires, Profiles and Other Information eHarmony gives registered users of the Service the opportunity to complete an eHarmony MarriageSMQuestionnaire ("MQ") that solicits personal information on a variety of marriage-related topics, such as communication, trust, values and commitment. Responses to the MQ by each individual user are used to assemble Your eHarmony Marriage Profile ("MP") for the married couple. The Service presents subscribers with certain exercises and other information based on information contained in their responses to the MQ. The MP is continually updated as subscribers complete those exercises. Individual responses to the MQ, the MP, the results of the exercises, and the progress reports for each subscriber are all collected by eHarmony and maintained on its servers. Except as explicitly provided herein, none of the information described above is made accessible to the public, other users of the Service or anyone else not employed by eHarmony directly. All personal information submitted to the Service is held strictly confidential with the following exceptions: The information described above can be reviewed by anyone who has access to the user name and password of the registered user, so it is important to keep both the user name and password secure. In addition, the spouse of each registered user can view much of the information contributed by the other spouse if such spouse has also registered for the Service. If we make any material changes in our privacy practices that affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our website notifying users of the change. Information Supplied by You at Time of Registration or Subscription eHarmony collects certain information about you at the time you register and also at the time you subscribe to the Service. To register and set up a user name and password to enable you to successfully login to the Service, you need to tell us your name, zip code, email address and whether you are setting up a joint or single account. You also need to tell us how you found out about the Service. In order for your spouse to access your account, he/she needs to give us his/her name and email address. To process subscriptions, we require your credit card number, its expiration date, your name as it appears on that credit card, your billing address, phone number and email address. In general, you will receive one email notification confirming your subscription. You will be sent email notices of any failed payment transactions, such as if your credit card company decides not to authorize your subscription or subscription renewal payment. We may also occasionally send you email notifications of special events or product offerings at eHarmony. These emails may contain code that enables our database to track your usage of the email messages, including whether the email was opened and/or what links (if any) were clicked. If you would rather not receive emails about new products, promotions or other noteworthy news, you can "opt-out" by logging in to the Service and changing your preferences. Demographic and profile data is also collected at our site. We use this data to tailor our visitors' experience at our site, showing them content that we think they might be interested in, and displaying the content according to their preferences. YOUR PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION WILL NOT BE SHARED WITH OR SOLD TO ANY OTHER BUSINESS OR VENDOR except as expressly provided herein. As we develop our business, we may buy or sell assets and, depending on the transaction, your personally identifiable information may be one of the transferred assets. In the event that we are acquired by another company, your personal information may be part of the assets transferred to the acquiring party. Credit card transactions are processed through industry standard secure socket layer encryption by a third party which only uses your information for that purpose. We will only share your information with third-parties in the manner described in this privacy statement. Information Supplied by Your Browser eHarmony also logs IP addresses for systems administration purposes. IP addresses are logged to track a user's session. This gives eHarmony an idea of which parts of our site users are visiting. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means that a user's session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous. Our site uses cookies to keep track of some types of information while you are visiting or using eHarmony. Cookies are very small files placed on your computer, so that when you return to eHarmony we can identify you. Cookies are needed for the eHarmony site to operate properly. If your browser is set to reject all cookies, the site will not function properly. Use of Your Information for Research Purposes You agree to allow us to anonymously use the information from you and your experiences through eharmony.com to continue our research into successful relationships. This research, conducted by psychologists and behavior research scientists, may be published in academic journals. However, all of your responses will be kept anonymous, and no personal identifying information will ever be published. You can find out more about the standards we follow in conducting scientific research at the following site: http://www.hhs.gov/ohrp/humansubjects/guidance/belmont.htm.
